Pitch Maintenance & Renovation

O’Carroll Sportsturf Services provides a number of maintenance and renovation techniques that can be implemented as part of an effective and long-lasting pitch maintenance programme.

Pitch Maintenance & Renovation

In order for your sports pitch to perform all year long, It is important to properly maintain its surface.

Regular maintenance on a pitch or sports field will reduce the need for professional intervention. The best way to care for your sports pitch is to cut the grass regularly, maintain good weed control, use fertilisation, monitor water logging, and if necessary call off matches to allow the grass to repair itself.

You should carry out small scale maintenance and care regularly and consistently. Larger maintenance work will depend on how much your sports pitch get used and your budget limitations. Very busy sports fields may undergo intense maintenance three or four times a year while smaller clubs may only have work carried out on the sports field once a year.

Renovation can be needed in cases of poorly performing sportsfields. the solution we have used in various grounds requires the top layer of the pitch (20mm) to be mowed off or Koro'd, drainage installed, overseeded, aerated & fertilized with specific controlled release products.
Results have been fantastic & clubs have been very satisfied.

Pitch renovations will upgrade your playing surface to like new. At O’Carroll Sportsturf Services we think of our renovation service as a makeover for your pitch without the need for invasive surgery. With pitch renovation, your playing field will only be out of service for 10 weeks, instead of a year for a complete new construction.

Included in the renovation process are functioning drainage solutions, surface care, and improvement measurements and programmes to encourage future health of the surface. With O’Carroll Sportsturf Services's quick and efficient renovation surface, your team will be back on the field as soon as possible.

Pitch Maintenance

Sand Spreading

Sand spreading helps to promote drainage, root development and achieve better results for wet-weather play and can be used on finished or existing playing fields. At O’Carroll Sportsturf Services, we use the latest spinner type spreaders to provide an even distribution of sand across the entire pitch surface.

Decompaction

At O’Carroll Sportsturf Services, we recommend decompacting your playing surface regularly. When used on heavy wear areas, decompacting will relieve soil compaction, improve aeration and remove surface water. There are various ways to achieve decompacting including shockwaves and verti draining.

Overseeding

Overseeding involves sowing new grass seed into an established pitch or playing field surface to thicken the existing grass. This method causes minimal disturbance to the existing grass resulting in a very high strike rate and ensuring a healthy surface. We use an aggressive self-repairing Creeping Ryegrass, called Regro where possible.

Fertilising

Slow release fertiliser will provide a consistent growth pattern over an extended time period. The fertiliser and processes used by O’Carroll Sportsturf Services are completely non-invasive and the pitch can return to pay immediately after application. Our compact tractors and equipment guarantee an efficient application with minimal impact on the field’s playing surface.
